Team Leader Geo-Information Management


Location: Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia

Responsibilities:

The leader of the of the Geo-Information Management (GIM) team is part of EPA’s Geomatics department of about 30 staff with the main office in Miri and representation in China, New Zealand and Australia. The main purpose of the position is to provide Geo-Information and Geographical Information System (GIS) advice and services. The incumbent will be responsible for the day to day planning, coordination and management of the following activities:

To lead the GIM team and provide GIM advice and services to relevant clients and departments;
To implement and maintain corporate spatial databases in line with groupstandards for EPA’s surface and subsurface assets maintained at theMiri hub and relevant EPA sites;
To ensure spatial integrity of the geo-information for EPA’s assets (seismic, wells, infrastructure) in relevant databases and derived map data;
To provide access and links to relevant global databases;
In consultation with the various end users implement and maintain group recommended spatial data access, integration and mapping tools;
To foster and maintain strategic technical partnerships with Information Technology and Data management teams for establishment and managementof GIM infrastructure;
To find novel solutions to complex geodetic and data integration problems and implement them as appropriate;
To provide geodetic advice and support;
To be EPA’s main representative on the Shell EP GIS Technical Advisory Panel (GISTAP);
To transfer geo-information and GIS know-how to relevant regional staff;
To maintain a safe and secure office environment.


Requirements:

BSc or MSc degree holder in Geodesy/Geomatics Engineering or relevant science with 10 years' relevant work experience preferably in the offshore oil and gas industry;

Candidates with less working experience may also be considered but must have following skills and personal attributes:

>Experienced with the implementation of a Geo-Information Strategy in a multi discipline organization;
>Skilled in ArcGIS, Oracle Spatial and coordinate systems;
>Knowledgeable in exploration, development and engineering data workflows;
>High level of computer literacy (PC, UNIX, Oracle/SQL, Web skills);

Ability to develop innovative solutions for complex issues;
Able to lead a team and a good communicator;
Fluency in spoken and written English is essential for this position;
Authorisation to work in Malaysia is required for this position.
